Description
Prime Peptides carries Semaglutide peptide in 5mg, 10mg and 20mg vials of freeze-dried powder. Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist, and all sizes are listed below. Prime Peptides supplies it for in-vitro research only.
What is Semaglutide?
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist from Novo Nordisk. It’s 94% identical to human GLP-1, with two changes that matter: an amino acid swap at position 8 that blocks the enzyme DPP-4, and a C18 fatty diacid chain that binds albumin. Together they take the half-life from about two minutes to about a week.
It’s approved as Ozempic and Rybelsus for type 2 diabetes and as Wegovy for weight management, which makes it the most studied compound in the GLP-1 class.
What Semaglutide does in cells
GLP-1 is a gut hormone released after a meal. It tells the pancreas to release insulin, but only when blood sugar is high, and it slows how fast the stomach empties. Receptors in the hypothalamus pick it up too, which is where its effect on appetite comes from.
Natural GLP-1 is broken down by the enzyme DPP-4 within a couple of minutes. Semaglutide swaps one amino acid to resist DPP-4 and carries a fatty acid that binds albumin in the blood. Together those changes stretch its half-life to about a week, which is why it’s studied as a once-weekly compound.

Semaglutide research findings
The STEP 1 trial (Wilding and colleagues, New England Journal of Medicine, 2021) reported average weight loss of 14.9% at 68 weeks against 2.4% on placebo.
The SELECT trial (Lincoff and colleagues, 2023) followed more than 17,000 adults with heart disease and overweight but no diabetes, and found a 20% lower rate of major cardiovascular events on semaglutide.

Semaglutide compared with similar compounds
In one line, Semaglutide activates the GLP-1 receptor only and lasts about a week, which makes it the most studied compound in the group. The compounds researchers most often weigh it against work like this:
- Retatrutide activates three receptors at once: GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon
- Tirzepatide activates two incretin receptors, GIP and GLP-1
- Eloralintide is a newer long-acting amylin receptor agonist from Lilly, studied for appetite and gastric emptying
- AOD-9604 is a modified 176-191 fragment of growth hormone, studied for fat breakdown without GH’s growth effects
- MOTS-c is a short peptide coded in mitochondrial DNA and linked to AMPK
Each one approaches metabolism from a different side: gut hormone receptors, amylin, a growth hormone fragment or the mitochondria. Compare them in our weight loss peptides.
Semaglutide peptide quality and verification
Each Semaglutide peptide vial arrives with the Prime label, which names the compound and marks it as lyophilized powder for research only. Your order confirmation lists every vial, which makes it easy to match vials to the study they belong to.
Labs that verify incoming material usually run two checks. HPLC gives a purity percentage, and mass spectrometry confirms identity by molecular weight. Either one alone leaves a gap.
A quick note of the order number and opening date on each vial makes troubleshooting far easier later on.
Reconstituting Semaglutide peptide
Working out the strength of your solution takes one division: 5mg over the millilitres you add. Typical volumes give these results:
- 1mL of diluent gives 5mg per mL
- 2mL of diluent gives 2.5mg per mL
- 3mL of diluent gives 1.667mg per mL
Clean the rubber stopper, add diluent a little at a time along the side of the vial and roll it between your fingers until it clears. Never shake it. Add bacteriostatic water to the same order so you have it ready.
Keeping Semaglutide peptide fresh
Unopened Semaglutide peptide keeps best at -20°C. A fridge is fine if you’ll use it soon. After reconstitution it belongs at 2 to 8°C, and most protocols use it up within 28 days.
Keep mixed vials upright so the liquid doesn’t sit against the stopper.
Which Semaglutide peptide size to choose
Select your strength in the Size menu. Current prices per vial:
- Semaglutide 5mg: $70.00 ($14.00 per mg)
- Semaglutide 10mg: $110.00 ($11.00 per mg)
- Semaglutide 20mg: $150.00 ($7.50 per mg)
Go small for a pilot and large for a full study. The bigger vials are cheaper per milligram and cut down on mixing.
