Description
Bacteriostatic water 10mL from Prime Peptides is sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol in a sealed 10mL vial, the diluent most labs use to dissolve freeze-dried peptides. One vial is enough to reconstitute several peptide vials. Prime Peptides supplies it for in-vitro research only.
What bacteriostatic water is and why labs use it
A freeze-dried peptide arrives as a dry cake of powder. Before you can measure it, it has to be dissolved in a clean liquid that won’t react with it. Plain sterile water is fine for a single draw, but a vial that gets punctured again and again needs protection against bacteria.
That is the job of the 0.9% benzyl alcohol. It slows bacterial growth, so a multi-use vial of peptide solution can sit in the fridge for several weeks without spoiling.
Stability in solution depends on pH, temperature and contamination. If your lab writes its own handling rules, this PubMed search on peptide stability in solution from the National Library of Medicine collects the published work.
How to use Bacteriostatic water 10mL
- Swab the stoppers of the water vial and the peptide vial with alcohol.
- Draw the volume you need with a sterile syringe.
- Run it slowly down the inside wall of the peptide vial.
- Swirl gently until the powder dissolves. Don’t shake.
- Write the concentration and date on the vial, then refrigerate.
Work out the concentration before you start: milligrams in the vial divided by millilitres added. A 10mg vial with 2mL added gives 5mg per mL.
Peptides you can reconstitute with it
- BPC-157 10mg
- TB-500 10mg (Thymosin Beta-4)
- GHK-Cu Copper Peptide 100mg
- Tesamorelin 10mg
- Retatrutide Peptide
- Semax 10mg
Every freeze-dried vial in our research peptides arrives as powder and needs a diluent, so most customers add one or two vials of water to each order. Every category is linked from the Prime Peptides home page.
How much water to add
There’s no single correct volume. Less water gives a stronger solution and a smaller amount to measure each time. More water gives a weaker solution that’s easier to measure accurately with a small syringe. Most labs pick the volume that turns their target amount into a round number.
- BPC-157 10mg: 10mg vial, 2mL added gives 5mg per mL
- TB-500 10mg (Thymosin Beta-4): 10mg vial, 2mL added gives 5mg per mL
- Tesamorelin 10mg: 10mg vial, 2mL added gives 5mg per mL
- Semax 10mg: 10mg vial, 2mL added gives 5mg per mL
A 10mL vial covers about three to five peptide vials at 2 to 3mL each, depending on the volumes your protocol calls for.
Storing Bacteriostatic water 10mL
Keep sealed vials at room temperature, out of direct light. After the first puncture, store the vial in the fridge and use a new sterile needle for every draw. Most labs discard an opened vial after about 28 days.
Throw out any vial that looks cloudy or has particles in it. Good bacteriostatic water is completely clear.
Common reconstitution mistakes
- Spraying water straight onto the powder, which foams and can damage the peptide.
- Shaking the vial instead of swirling it.
- Forgetting to label the concentration and date.
- Leaving a mixed vial on the bench at room temperature.
- Reusing a needle between the water vial and different peptide vials.

Bacteriostatic water 10mL FAQ
What’s in Bacteriostatic water 10mL?
Sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative.
How many peptide vials does one bottle cover?
Usually three to five, depending on how much you add to each vial.
How much should I add to a peptide vial?
It depends on the concentration you want. Divide the milligrams in the vial by the volume to get mg per mL.
How long does an opened vial of Bacteriostatic water 10mL last?
Kept in the fridge and drawn with sterile needles, most labs use it within about 28 days.
Is Bacteriostatic water 10mL in stock?
Yes, it’s in stock and ships free with the rest of your order.
