Prime Peptides TB-500: Thymosin Beta-4 Explained

Prime Peptides TB-500 explained: what thymosin beta-4 is, the 10mg vial and the blends that contain it, the key studies and how to store it.

What Prime Peptides TB-500 is

Prime Peptides TB-500 is a 10mg vial of synthetic thymosin beta-4, sold as freeze-dried powder for laboratory research. Thymosin beta-4 is a 43-amino-acid protein found in nearly every cell, where it binds actin and helps control how cells move. TB-500 is the name used for the synthetic version and for a short fragment of its active region.

It isn’t an approved medicine, and it’s on the WADA prohibited list, so it belongs in the lab only.

Prime Peptides TB-500 options

TB-500 10mg costs $65.00 on its own. It’s also one of the base compounds in the Wolverine blend (BPC-157 and TB-500, 10mg each), the Glow blend (adds 50mg of GHK-Cu) and the Klow blend (adds 10mg of KPV on top). If your protocol studies TB-500 alone, or needs a different ratio to BPC-157, the single vial gives you that control.

How thymosin beta-4 works

Thymosin beta-4’s main job is holding on to G-actin, the building block of the cell’s internal scaffolding. By controlling how much actin is free to polymerize, it controls how cells move and change shape. Cell movement is the first step in repair, which links it to the wound and blood vessel studies. The fragment often sold as TB-500 contains the actin-binding region, LKKTETQ.

What the research on TB-500 shows

Bock-Marquette and colleagues reported in Nature in 2004 that thymosin beta-4 improved heart cell survival after injury in mice. Goldstein and colleagues reviewed its role in wound repair in 2012, covering faster closure of skin wounds and new blood vessel growth in animal models. Like BPC-157, almost all the data are from animals and cells.

This PubMed search for thymosin beta-4 lists the published papers.

Prime Peptides TB-500 compared with BPC-157

The two peptides work on different stages of repair. TB-500 handles cell migration through actin, and BPC-157 is tied to new blood vessels and nitric oxide signaling. Labs that want both in one step use the Wolverine blend, covered in our Prime Peptides Wolverine guide.

Mixing and storing TB-500

Add bacteriostatic water slowly down the glass and swirl gently. With 2mL added, the 10mg vial holds 5mg per mL. Keep sealed vials in the freezer at -20°C, and once mixed, keep the vial at 2 to 8°C and use it within about four weeks.
